Everyone, since they were a little kid, has been informed of how dangerous cigarette smoke can be. Studies have shown that long-term smokers obtain harmful physical effects on their body due to cigarette smoke. Cigarettes are very expensive, they smell, and they end up killing you in the long run; why wouldn't you want to quit? The following are a few tips that you should follow if you wish to quit smoking for good.

First of all, determine the time that you are most likely to have a cigarette. Some people like to smoke right before they go to sleep and others enjoy a smoke with their morning coffee. Whatever the case may be, pinpointing the time that you are most likely to smoke will allow you to prevent it from happening.

Second, figure out some different ways to fight your cravings. Let's say you are the type of smoker who enjoys a cigarette with your morning coffee. If so, either drink fewer cups of coffee per day or make sure you drink your coffee where you are unable to smoke a cigarette. This means make sure that you do not step outside with your coffee or you will more than likely be smoking with the next person standing outside.

Third, get rid of all cigarettes and smoking paraphernalia. This means raid your house, car, office and anywhere else where you would be likely to find a cigarette and toss everything in the garbage. Make sure that you do not leave anything around, not even for a "bad day" because once that day rolls around you will be picking up the habit again in a flash.

Finally, make sure you think about the end result. Think how good it will feel to be able to turn down a cigarette offered to you and tell people that you quit smoking. Not to mention, your lungs will feel a lot better as well. If you need encouragement, try leaving little notes around your house/car encouraging you to stop smoking.
